WEO held several meetings during Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) 2017, the most important meeting in the Asian-Pacific region for GI specialists.  WEO once again collaborated with the APDW to deliver the latest research and insights in the field of endoscopy. APDW delegates had the opportunity to participate at the following meetings: Advanced Diagnostic Endoscopy Course (ADEC), Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee (CRC SC) Meeting and WEO Research Workshop.

Advanced Diagnostic Endoscopy Course (ADEC), Saturday, September 23, 2017

ADEC was held as a 1-day course supported by a faculty of 14 international experts and chaired by Jean-François Rey (France, President WEO), Shinji Tanaka (Japan) and Noriya Uedo (Japan).  The meeting had a fantastic turnout, with more than 130 delegates attending, at times resulting in standing-room only. A broad range of topics were covered and multiple angles of high definition endoscopic imaging were discussed. Participants especially enjoyed the interactive voting and active participation in quizzes.

Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee (CRC SC) Meeting, Monday, September 25, 2017

CRC Screening Committee meeting focused on new technologies, original research and new practices in order to update attendees on recent advances in CRC screening.  The faculty consisted of 19 world-renowned experts and was chaired by Joseph Sung (Hong Kong). The small setting enabled participants to engage the experts in detailed discussions and address areas of controversy. Participants also valued the opportunity to view the presentations of original research, which were for the first time introduced to CRC SC meeting in Asian-Pacific region.

Research Workshop, Monday, September 25, 2017

WEO in collaboration with A-PSDE launched this new half-day workshop designed to explain the basics of research including how to design studies, interpret data and publish results.  Around 40 delegates attended the course, which was supported by a faculty of eight international experts and co-chaired by Krish Ragunath (UK) & James Lau (Hong Kong). Participants engaged interactively with the experts and suggested future courses go into greater depth on the statistical aspect of studies.

WEO would like to thank A-PSDE for the continuous successful collaboration, APDW for hosting the meetings and the faculty members for sharing their valuable knowledge and experience.

Thank you for attending and see you next year in Seoul!
