Right-Sided Lesions and Interval Cancers

The Expert Working Group ‘Right-Sided Lesions and Interval Cancers’ of the Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening Committee of the World Endoscopy Organization was initiated in 2012.

The main goals of this working group are:

  • To monitor interval CRC during screening and colonoscopy surveillance to facilitate benchmarking and comparison across studies and programs
  • To propose a method to perform root cause analysis of interval cancers in order to identify modifiable factors
  • To propose solutions to minimize the interval CRC rate
  • To create a platform for collaboration across screening organizations, programs and facilitate worldleading research
