The 15th Beijing International Digestive Disease Forum with focus on digestion, digestive endoscopy, liver diseases, general surgery, parenteral and enteral nutrition, imaging, pathology, live digestive endoscopy, as well as laparoscopic surgery demonstrations, was held on June 15-17, 2018 in Beijing, China. WEO is very proud and honored to have been one of the co-hosts of this Forum.

Other partners included the National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases, Chinese Association of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, China Quality Association for Pharmaceuticals, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing Institute of Clinical Medicine, Beijing Digestive Disease Center and the Department of Gastroenterology, Capital Medical University.

More than 3,600 doctors and specialists from all over China converged to learn and discuss a wide spectrum of topics related to digestive diseases. Renowned local and international experts shared their knowledge and expertise. Live telecast via the web ensured that close to 45,000 viewers were also able to watch the live endoscopy demonstration remotely.

WEO, represented by Dr Jean-Francois Rey (President), Dr Fabian Emura (President-elect) as well as Professor Seo Dong Wan (Treasurer) spoke on various themes ranging from Globalization of Digestive Endoscopy, ESD, Cholangioscopy. All three further shared their expertise by performing live endoscopy on unique cases.

During the forum, a half day program was dedicated to WEO’s very own in-house Advanced Diagnosis Endoscopy Course (ADEC) aimed at helping participants advance their diagnostic skills with the aid of HD endoscopes, by case presentations and discussion with experts. Co-course directors included Dr Jean-Francois Rey, Professor Zhang Shu Tian and Professor Shinji Tanaka. The experts involved were Professor Guo Xuegang, Professor Jin Zhendong, Professor Li Peng, Professor Seo Dong Wan, Professor Kyoku Sumimoto, Professor Yang Aiming and Professor Wang Lei. The lively interactions and keen interest of the audience throughout the lectures allowed for several excellent learning opportunities.
