Egyptian Digestive Disease Week (EDDW) is the annual meeting of the Egyptian Society for the Study of Endoscopy and Hepatogastroenterology (ESEHG). Last month, more than 1000 participants from all over the world, mainly from Egypt and other African countries working in science, research, health care, and the private sector, attended the 17th EEDW. The conference was held from March 26–30, 2019, and was endorsed by WEO.

The highlight of the conference was a 7-hour Live Endoscopy performed by Professor Qiu Zhao’s team and broadcast for the first time from China’s Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University to the conference venue in Cairo, Eygpt, with Professor Qiu Zhao and WEO President Dr Jean-Francois Rey among the audience.

The conference also offered a great platform for practical training, giving participants the opportunity to improve their skills using state-of-the-art models. The feedback from all attendees was very positive; participants enjoyed the fruitful discussions and hot-spot lectures, and valued the exchange with international experts.

EEDW is grateful for the support received from industry AstraZeneca China and Egypt for this year’s meeting.
