The World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) has recently announced its plans for the 3rd World Congress of GI Endoscopy. It will be organized in conjunction with the 103rd Congress of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society.  Established in 1959 as the Japan Gastrocamera Society, the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) is now established as a major global endoscopy society with more than 34800 members. Since 1962, WEO is the umbrella society for the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), the Interamerican Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED) and the Asian Pacific Society of Digestive Endoscopy (APSDE). WEO has been recognized as one of the world’s leading endoscopy societies on account of its ongoing educational and international activities, led by eminent clinicians, and through its vigorous relationships with national and regional endoscopy societies.

WEO has successfully organised global endoscopy meetings first in Hyderabad, India in 2017 and the second meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil earlier this year.  Both these meetings had over 3,000 delegates in attendance coming from more than 70 countries.

For the third edition of the World Congress to take place in Kyoto, Japan in May 2022, ENDO 2022 leadership is carefully considering innovative approaches in these challenging times to ensure that learning continues attracting an even wider endoscopy community to attend.
