WEO President Fabian Emura has convened leaders in endoscopy around the world to strengthen and move forward WEO’s current worldwide activities. With the creation of three new committees, Dr Emura hopes to ensure that WEO can maintain its mission in today´s difficult circumstances, giving the society a strong long-term perspective.

WEO is very pleased to announce the following new endeavors and the appointment of their outstanding chairs:

News and Media Ad Hoc Committee

Under the guidance of Nalini Guda (Aurora St Luke´s Medical Center, University of Wisconsin, USA), who has been successfully serving as editor of the WEO Newsletter, this Committee seeks to enhance how WEO provides the global GI community with latest endoscopy news and educational opportunities worldwide. The creation of an editorial board and the increasing presence of WEO on various social media channels are some of the goals of this initiative.

With vast experience in the use of interactive teaching tools, Dr Gottumukkala Raju (The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA) will lead this Committee towards offering free-access education in GI endoscopy. They will accomplish this by setting up an online free-access video library and programs with pre-recorded lectures and videos, thus continuing to promote safer and better-quality practice, while increasing WEO visibility worldwide.
