The aim of the Advanced Diagnostic Endoscopy Course (ADEC) is to help participants to take their diagnostic skills to new levels with the aid of high-definition endoscopes and image enhancement. So that the spread of this knowledge should not be interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the latest ADEC was delivered as the first virtual web program. It was transmitted from Japan, Hong Kong, and France, and was successfully completed on December 11, 2020.
The course program was organized by Noriya Uedo (Japan) and hosted by Jean-Francois Rey and Hisao Tajiri, with Hon-Chi Yip (Hong Kong), Naohiro Yoshida (Japan), and Osamu Dohi (Japan) as distinguished faculty. The course included lectures on new evidence and technologies as related to image-enhanced endoscopy (IEE) in the esophagus and stomach, for example: narrow band, blue-light, and linked-color imaging; magnifying and near-focus endoscopy; and expanded depth of focus technologies. This was followed by case presentations and interactive discussions with the expert panelist. The course can be reviewed here.
WEO acknowledges the contributions of all participants to the proven success of this course and support from Olympus and Fujifilm, and invites everyone to stay tuned for the forthcoming program in 2021.
