This year the Symposium took place as a virtual event over three days. A varied program was broadcast online in full-HD. It included mini-symposia, state-of-the-art lectures, satellite symposia, breakout sessions, and a symposium for nurses. Distinguished experts from around the world participated in the scientific program and presented more than 8 hours of live demonstrations. The latter were transmitted in real time from centers in Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Hyderabad.
The online platform offered various options for the participants to ask questions or to chat with moderators, individual faculty members or industry representatives. The continuous livestream was accessible in four languages (English, German, Russian, and Chinese).
The Symposium was very successful and went smoothly with no technical problems. The feedback from attendees, faculty, industry representatives, and the patients involved was extremely positive. More than 2.800 participants from many countries outside China and more than 10.000 from Chinese-speaking countries were registered. This high level of participation is particularly gratifying given that there was a registration fee, in contrast to many other events that are free of charge.
The Symposium exhibition was visited by more than 1.700 attendees, and short presentations from industry representatives, in between the core program items, were well received. The recorded event is currently being frequently visited online by registered attendees.
The organizers of the Düsseldorf Symposium are grateful to WEO for publicizing the meeting and for the ongoing support of the participating Endoscopy Centers of Excellence units.
