Now in its fifth year, the highly popular WISE program trains a selected group of doctors interested in pursuing a career in EUS and to prepares them to be future leaders in this field. WISE program has successfully addressed the current training gap in EUS and the need for structured training especially in developing parts of the world. WISE program has also proven to be an excellent networking platform.

WISE Course founder and director, Professor Dong-Wan Seo explains: “This specialized EUS training course focuses on basic anatomy, intermediate and advanced EUS. WISE is aimed at endoscopists in their early careers who wish to advance their skills in EUS practice. It is our priority to ensure that training can continue despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The WISE program first adopted a digital format in 2020 and the approach was carried through to WISE 2021, which has just concluded successfully. For WISE 2022, the digital format will continue to be the primary approach. Without a doubt, online training cannot fully replace the benefits of a face-to-face meeting, yet it allows the education program to reach a wider audience in the most effective way. Nevertheless, we are certain that in time to come, on-site hands-on training will resume at the designated WISE training venue, ASAN Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea. I look forward to welcoming all selected candidates soon.”

The WISE 2022 program, which will start in March 2022, will comprise of five online modules, online participation in the EUS Summit, and one module of on-site hands-on training for selected participants.
