The WEO Awards were established in 2020 to recognize outstanding leaders who have significantly contributed to the field of endoscopy worldwide and to the fulfillment of WEO’s mission.
After careful evaluation, the WEO Awards Committee led by current WEO Past President, Jean-Francois Rey (France) and composed of representatives of all WEO zones, is very pleased to announce the 2022 recipients of its four prestigious awards:
Dr. Nageshwar Reddy (India), WEO Lifetime Achievement Award 2022
The Lifetime Achievement award pays tribute to a significant contribution to WEO´s activities and mission. Particularly, the award honors an individual with international recognition and significant publications within the field of GI endoscopy.
Dr. Paulo Sakai (Brazil), WEO Master Endoscopist Award 2022
The Master Endoscopist award honors leadership within internationally renowned endoscopic units and expertise or invention regarding endoscopic techniques. The award honors an individual with international recognition and significant publications within the field of GI endoscopy.
Dr. Horst Neuhaus (Germany), WEO Research Mentoring Award 2022
The Research Mentoring award recognizes an outstanding role in fostering a new generation of endoscopic investigators. In addition, it honors significant publications in GI endoscopy and contributions to the activities and mission of WEO.
Dr. Prateek Sharma (USA), WEO Distinguished Educator Award 2022
The Distinguished Educator award recognizes an outstandingly effective contribution to worldwide endoscopy education in, for example, trainee education, publication of educational material, or conduct of educational courses. Additionally, the awardee is recognized for their contribution to the activities and mission of the WEO.
