WEO President, Professor Hisao Tajiri had the honor of being invited to deliver a special lecture during the Digestive Cancer and Digestive Disease Forum Zunyi 2022, held in Zunyi, Guizhou Province, China, on 28th–30th October 2022. More than 200 experts from China and Japan attended this meeting, on- and offline, which showcased 25 endoscopic live demonstrations and shared latest advances through 145 lectures. Topics included digestive cancer (including rare tumors, namely, neuroendocrine tumors), hepatobiliary and pancreatic system diseases, autoimmune digestive system diseases, severe digestive diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, functional gastrointestinal diseases, and digestive endoscopy.

The highlight of this forum is the early digestive cancer meeting that has been held regularly every year for the last five, by the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University of China and the Niigata Hospital of Japan. The strong cooperation between gastroenterology departments of the two hospitals, which has been built up since 2018, includes the establishment of international basic research cooperation, specialist training in early gastrointestinal tract cancer, and an ERCP training course.

The Zunyi Digestive Cancer and Digestive Disease Forum is recognized as one of the most important GI medicine events in China.

The 2022 Forum 2022 was organized by the Department of Gastroenterology, the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University, and by the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Diagnosis and Treatment Quality Control Center of Guizhou Province, China, and reached more than 158047 registered participants in China.
