There is an increasing number of commercially available artificial intelligence (AI) tools for colonoscopy, and some of these are supported by positive results from high quality randomized trials. However, their implementation is not going smoothly for a variety of reasons.

An expert working group of the WEO Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee issued a position statement to address this situation. A dedicated steering committee was established and diverse panel members were recruited.  A total of seven statements were developed using the modified Delphi approach. The importance of engaging with healthcare delivery systems and authorities on how to facilitate the implementation of AI in colonoscopy was emphasized in the statements. The manuscript was recently published by Digestive Endoscopy.
