Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on gastrointestinal endoscopy in Africa (August 2020)

This web-based survey was conducted by the International Working Group of the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) to determine the impact and effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on endoscopists in African countries.

Recommendations for the Operation of Endoscopy Centers in the setting of the COVID‐19 pandemic – World Endoscopy Organization guidance document (June 2020)

The WEO‐COVID guidance task force has provided this resource document based on the current evidence and consensus opinion. These World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) recommendations are meant to guide endoscopists worldwide, should be interpreted in light of specific clinical conditions and resource availability and may not apply in all situations.

Global Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Endoscopy: An International Survey of 252 Centers from 55 Countries  (June 2020)

To help evaluate the global impact of COVID-19 on endoscopy, WEO has conducted a web-based GICE Survey that included 16 questions focused on the endoscopy units’ baseline volumes, the impact on procedure numbers during the peak of the COVID 19 epidemic, the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and if any endoscopy personnel contracted the infection. The  survey was sent out on April 23, 2020 and responses were collected through May 12, 2020.

WEO Guidance to Endoscopists: Reopening of Endoscopy Services (May 2020)

This update from the WEO COVID-19 Response Taskforce includes additional resources and guidance for reopening endoscopy services in areas where the number of new COVID-19 cases has begun to level off rather than continuing in a sharp upward trajectory and, there is easing of restrictions.

Practical Advice for Management of IBD Patients during the COVID‐19 Pandemic: A World Endoscopy Organization Statement (May 2020)

COVID‐19 is rapidly spreading worldwide and specific literature how to deal with IBD patients is limited so far. Here, the World Endoscopy Organisation (WEO) is providing practical advice for the management of IBD patients during the pandemic covering the diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum.
