WEO Centers

The World Endoscopy Organization operates multiple centers around the globe for training, research, and recognition of highly reputable facilities.

Together, these centers support learning at different levels — from building basic skills in underserved regions to advanced hands-on training and international academic collaboration.

WEO Centers of Excellence

The WEO Centers of Excellence program identifies endoscopic centers with strong international reputations in clinical care, education, and research. These centers work closely with WEO to support high-quality endoscopy.

Recognition is granted for five years, with the possibility of renewal.

WEO Outreach Training Centers

These are WEO-recognized centers located in underserved regions. They provide endoscopy services and hands-on training directly on site and help expand access to care where it is most needed.

In many cases, training happens alongside daily clinical work — helping local teams grow skills step by step and build long-term capacity.

WEO Expert Training Centers

These are high-volume endoscopy centers where WEO sends fellows, mostly from underserved regions, for advanced training. The focus is on intensive hands-on experience in specialist units.

These placements help physicians strengthen advanced skills and then return home to further develop local services.

Collaboration of Organized and Recognized Endoscopy Units (CORE)

CORE includes gastrointestinal endoscopy units of all sizes, from large hospitals to smaller private practices. These units are recognized for meeting essential standards in safety, hygiene, disinfection, and quality endoscopy practice.

This program is currently closed and being reshaped. Until July 2026, the listed units were recognized as CORE centers.
