Endoscopy for Oesophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Diagnosis and Therapeutic Procedures

The World Endoscopy Organization encourages all members, particularly those engaged in clinical practice and training across Africa, to take part in this important educational initiative addressing Oesophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) — the most common subtype of oesophageal cancer globally, and especially prevalent in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Developed under the AFROC (African Initiative Against Oesophageal Cancer) as part of the Africa Connect Project, this blended-learning program is designed to build capacity in the early detection, diagnosis, and therapeutic management of OSCC through a combination of webinars, job shadowing, and hands-on training.

Program Highlights:

  • A focus on evidence-based practices for upper GI endoscopy
  • Training in endoscopic diagnosis, resection techniques, and palliative care approaches
  • Contributions from internationally recognized experts in the field
  • A curriculum tailored to the clinical and epidemiological realities in African settings

Application Information:

  • Participation is free of charge, but prior registration is required
  • 150 spots available per webinar, filled on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Participants may apply for individual sessions or the full series
