The grand annual event of digestive endoscopy in China concluded successfully in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The 2025 Chinese Medical Association Annual Meeting of Digestive Endoscopy, CCDE2025, successfully took place at the picturesque West Lake from November 7 to 9, 2025. As an outstanding academic event regarding both scale and influence in China's digestive endoscopy field, this year's conference, had an unprecedented level of international participation and extensive coverage of the field. This event has become an important bridge connecting the global endoscopy community and has strongly amplified the momentum of development in the related industry. The conference included 34 carefully prepared sub-venues, nearly 400 special reports, and two live surgery demonstration halls, alongside the presentation of nearly a thousand academic posters and reports in English from more than 200 young scholars. Top experts and scholars from around the world gathered to promote academic exchanges and technological innovation to new heights through ideological collisions.
WEO recognizes the rapid advance of digestive endoscopy in China
At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the conference organizing committee, Professor Jin Zhendong from Changhai Hospital in Shanghai, Chairman of CCDE2025, Director of the 9th Committee of the Digestive Endoscopy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, extended a warm welcome, and sincere gratitude to the experts and scholars at home and abroad for their attendance. He saw this conference as an opportunity to deepen global cooperation and jointly promote progress in the field.
Professor Lars Aabakken, current WEO President, delivered a special speech to extend warm congratulations on the successful holding of the conference and express sincere greetings to all participants. He emphatically affirmed the leapfrogging development of digestive endoscopy in China: the continuing optimization of white-light endoscopy; the ongoing breakthroughs in ultrasound technology; the deep penetration of AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment; and the wide popularization of disposable endoscopes have achieved an all-round improvement in diagnosis and treatment levels. Professor Aabakken emphasized that WEO is honored to witness and participate in this important development process. WEO looks forward to further expanding areas of cooperation with China, building scientific research and innovation platforms together, strengthening joint personnel training, constructing an academic exchange network with global influence, and enabling the innovative achievements of precise diagnosis and treatment to benefit patients in more countries and regions.
Eurasian Symposium on Cutting-Edge Innovations in Endoscopy: Technological innovation demonstrates China's hard power
During the conference, the “Eurasian Symposium on Cutting-Edge Innovations in Endoscopy," hosted by MicroVision Medical, a pioneer in the field of microscopic medicine, became a core highlight of international exchanges. Authoritative international experts such as Professor Lars Aabakken, WEO President, former WEO President Jean-François Rey, and former WEO Secretary-General Dong-Wan Seo, conducted in-depth discussions with many Chinese experts and scholars on the progress of technological innovation and clinical application in digestive endoscopy in Eurasian countries.
Many experts focused on sharing the results of clinical application of BIOPSEE® Confocal Microendoscopy. With its 1000x optical magnification capability, this high-end Chinese medical equipment can provide real-time in vivo cellular-level image information, helping doctors achieve accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer, and significantly improving the detection rate, diagnosis, and treatment of early lesions.
Looking to the future: Creating a new chapter in global digestive endoscopy with an open attitude
The successful conclusion of CCDE2025 vividly demonstrates the energetic innovative vitality of China's digestive endoscopy field and its continuously increasing influence on the global stage. With its open attitude, the conference gathered together global wisdom, advanced development of the speciality by technological innovation, and promoted clinically driven in-depth integration of medicine and engineering, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of related industry.
From a global perspective, this annual meeting has built a high-quality platform for equal exchanges, result-sharing, and joint development, laying a more solid foundation for deepening international cooperation. In the future, the World Endoscopy Organization will continue to work closely with China and global partners to promote the sustainable implementation of further innovative technologies, diagnosis, and treatment plans worldwide; to jointly delineate an effective blueprint for the development of digestive endoscopy; and to bring more health benefits to patients around the world.
