The Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee (CRC SC) recently gathered at the Holiday Inn Washington Capitol National Mall hotel in Washington DC, on May 17, 2024. This meeting served as a valuable platform for eminent experts to share their latest insights, advances, and trends in colorectal cancer screening.
The day's agenda included absorbing Expert Working Group sessions in the morning, followed by a productive plenary session in the afternoon. A recording of the plenary meeting is now available on the WEO YouTube channel for those who couldn't attend in person.
It was heartening to see 160 individuals actively participating in the CRC SC meeting, expressing their pleasure at reconnecting with colleagues and staying informed about the latest developments in colorectal cancer screening.

The day after the CRC SC full-day event, a meeting was held to inaugurate a new WEO Taskforce dedicated to implementing high quality colonoscopy in screening. The primary goal of this taskforce is to assist countries/regions in raising the quality of colonoscopy for both screening and surveillance programs. Enthusiasm was very considerable, leading to the generation of numerous innovative ideas during this initial meeting. Stay tuned for further updates and developments.
The next CRC SC meeting is scheduled for October 11, 2024, in Vienna, Austria, just before UEG Week 2024. Keep an eye on the Events section of the WEO website for registration details as they become available.
