Emerging Stars is the flagship activity of the WEO Education Committee. The WEO Education Committee under the leadership of Professor Ibrahim Mostafa, Egypt, has developed the Emerging Stars Program to provide a group of promising young doctors with skills to become leaders in the field and to form a network of experts who will take over as “next generation”.
The first course of the fourth group of Emerging Stars ended a few weeks ago and participants warmly thanked the organizers and sponsors. Tobias Zuchelli, one of the current cohort, claims: "Really, words can’t describe the uniqueness of this course. I’ve participated in courses across America, but the difference here is the foundational leadership skills we learn throughout the week.”
Doctors from 21 countries around the world are attending the 2025–2026 course, which comprises three modules with intensive face-to-face training over an 18-month timespan. Internationally renowned experts in communication techniques demonstrated methods to improve communication, de-escalate problems, manage time, and consider etiquette and self-presentation standards. Career planning and creative solution thinking were further highlights of the program.
As Stefano Baraldo, a current Star, remarks: "It was a mind-blowing format, identifying my personality. It became clear to me what things I need to work on to become a better person — not just a better doctor, but a better person."
WEO is proud of this elite group of young talent and expects remarkable careers ahead.
