From 24 to 26 September 2026, the picturesque city of Cape Town, South Africa, will be the proud host of ENDO 2026, the World Endoscopy Congress. Set against the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town is a premier destination for international congresses, consistently earning accolades for its exceptional facilities, strategic location, and vibrant cultural landscape, making it an ideal location for this prestigious global event.

ENDO 2026 is organised by the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), in collaboration with key regional partners: the South African Gastroenterology Society (SAGES), the Association of Surgeons of South Africa (ASSA), and the South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons (SASES). This partnership reflects the Congress’s strong regional roots while reinforcing its global reach.

At the scientific helm of this event are the Scientific Co-Chairs, Professor Ernst Fredericks (South Africa) and Professor Nonthalee Pausawasdi (Thailand).

Professor Fredericks is a leading figure in gastroenterology within South Africa, but also known for his extensive experience in therapeutic endoscopy and his contribution to clinical training and research across the entire African continent. With a career grounded in academic excellence and a passion for advancing gastrointestinal care in Africa, his leadership ensures a rich, contextually relevant scientific agenda.

Professor Pausawasdi, based in Bangkok, is an internationally respected expert in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. She has been a strong contributor to endoscopy training in the Asia-Pacific region and a driving force in fostering regional collaboration. She is committed to advancing endoscopy training in underserved regions and is a global advocate for quality care and education. She brings a wealth of experience in leading multidisciplinary academic collaborations. Her role as Co-Chair highlights the Congress’s commitment to promoting global innovation and inclusivity.

Supporting them is a distinguished Scientific Committee comprising 25 experts from across Africa, Asia/Oceania, Europe, and the Americas. Each member contributes unique perspectives and deep expertise, in various subfields of endoscopy, ensuring that the program remains comprehensive, diverse, and of the highest educational value.

The scientific program promises to be dynamic and multifaceted. Key features include:

Honorary lectures by globally recognized thought leaders.
Live demonstrations: Real-time endoscopic procedures will be presented, as a vital learning platform. Anticipated live broadcasts from India and Germany will highlight both basic and cutting-edge techniques performed by internationally acclaimed experts.
Learning Center: This dedicated space will offer educational programs for both emerging and experienced endoscopists. It will include training in video capsule endoscopy.
Hands-on training workshops with dedicated GI stations. Here, participants will be able to engage with advanced equipment, review complex clinical cases, and refine their procedural skills.
