The World Endoscopy Organization is proud to celebrate the publication of Super Minimally Invasive Surgery: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Section, a landmark new book by Professor Enqiang Linghu, a pioneering figure in third-space endoscopy and a longstanding, active member of our society. To mark the occasion, we share the Foreword by Dr. Jean-François Rey, Past President of WEO, who witnessed the origins of SMIS at first-hand:
“During my first visit to China in 2016, Professor Linghu Enqiang, reflecting deeply on the limitations of traditional surgical paradigms, pioneered the concept of super minimally invasive surgery (SMIS). One of medicine's greatest challenges lies in curing disease while preserving the evolutionary sophistication of the human body – a balance redefined by super minimally invasive surgery (SMIS).
