Around 100 participants joined the second Video Capsule Endoscopy Network (VCEN) webinar on 15 October 2026 to learn about the latest developments in capsule endoscopy.
The webinar opened with welcome remarks from Prof. Carol E. Semrad (USA) and course director Dr. Jean-François Rey (France). The program featured four expert sessions: Dr. Rey discussed preparation for small-bowel capsule endoscopy, Prof. Long Rong presented magnetically guided gastric capsule versus traditional gastroscopy, Prof. Qiu Zhao looked back at 25 years of capsule endoscopy, and Dr. Miguel Mascarenhas Saraiva explored the role of artificial intelligence in capsule endoscopy.

Each session included time for questions and answers. It gave participants the chance to engage with the speakers and discuss practical aspects of the topics.
Similar topics were also explored during the Capsule Symposium at ENDO 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. Through its webinar series, VCEN makes this learning available to a wider audience, including healthcare professionals who cannot attend in-person events.
Preparations are already underway for the third webinar in December 2026, followed by the WEO Capsule Endoscopy Global Summit (CEGS) in China in March 2027. For the first time, the summit will run over two days, allowing more time for presentations and discussion.
WEO thanks Jinshan for supporting VCEN and helping make these educational activities possible.
