The World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) successfully convened the WEO Capsule Endoscopy Global Summit (CEGS) 2026, on March 21 in Chongqing and online, further advancing international collaboration and scientific exchange in the field of capsule endoscopy.
In conjunction with the Summit, the Advanced Endoscopy Course (ADEC) was conducted on the morning of the meeting. The ADEC program focused on improving the efficiency of training and on advanced imaging techniques in endoscopy. It included expert-led sessions on enhanced-imaging endoscopy for squamous cell esophageal carcinoma, early gastric cancer in China, and colonic polyps. These were followed by closing remarks and a prize presentation to recognize outstanding participation.
The Summit, co-organized with the Chinese Association of Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists (CAGH), brought together a global audience, with over 500 participants attending onsite and more than 180 000 online views recorded. The meeting also saw a marked increase in academic engagement, with abstract submissions doubling compared to the previous edition.
The scientific program encompassed key clinical and technological developments relating to, amongst others, gastrointestinal bleeding, Crohn’s disease, pediatric applications, and colon capsule endoscopy. Particular emphasis was placed on the expanding role of artificial intelligence and emerging innovations in capsule-based diagnostics. The combination of invited lectures, abstract presentations, and expert discussions provided valuable insights into current practice and future directions.
WEO expresses its sincere appreciation to all faculty members, contributors, and participants for their engagement and support. WEO also acknowledges JINSHAN for its valued contribution to the successful delivery of the Summit.
