WEO-Capsule Endoscopy Global Summit 2024 (WEO-CEGS 2024)
The WEO Capsule Endoscopy Global Summit (WEO-CEGS) is an international conference dedicated to capsule endoscopy, organized by the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO).
Themed "Innovation Ahead", WEO-CEGS 2024 aimed to provide researchers, industry pioneers and clinical practitioners with a unique opportunity to share knowledge on the latest advancements and most exciting research developments in the field, and to explore the benefits from innovations in capsule endoscopy.
WEO–CEGS 2024 represented the concerted efforts of WEO and the Chinese Association of Gastroenterology & Hepatologist (CAGH) as well as the support of several prominent hospitals in China. WEO President, Lars Aabakken, stated “WEO is very honored to have Professor Zhang Shu Tian of the renowned Beijing Friendship Hospital as the Co-President of WEO CEGS 2024. Together, we can scale greater heights.”
This year, WEO welcomed over 300 onsite participants from 25 countries in the dynamic city of Chongqing and attracted an impressive 170 000 online views. Throughout the summit, we saw inspiring exchanges of knowledge as our distinguished speakers, such as Lars Aabakken, Jingan Lou, Ling Liu, John Plevris, Jean-Francois Rey, Cristiano Spada, and many more, delivered interesting talks. Abstract winners also shared groundbreaking research and innovative clinical applications in capsule endoscopy.
Pablo Machado (gastroenterologist, digestive endoscopist, and Director of the Small Intestine Committee at SIED. Asociación Española, from Montevideo, Uruguay was the recipient of the Best Abstract award. Here is what he has to say about his experience at WEO-CEGS 2024:
“The journey from abstract submission to receiving the Outstanding Award at WEO-CEGS 2024 has been nothing short of incredible. Submitting my abstract to this prestigious event was a chance to showcase my work to a global audience of experts in the field. The submission process was straightforward, with ample guidance from the organizers, which made the experience smooth and encouraging.
When I learned that my abstract was accepted, it was a moment of pride and excitement. Attending the congress was an eye-opening experience, providing an unparalleled opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research, network with leading professionals, and exchange ideas with peers from around the world.
