From November 1st to 3rd, 2024, the 2024 Chinese Conference of Digestive Endoscopy (CCDE2024), the most academically influential annual conference in the field of digestive endoscopy in China, was held with great fanfare in Changsha, Hunan province, China. The Conference was organized by the Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopy (CSDE) and was strongly supported by the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO). Former WEO President, Professor Jean Francois Rey graced the congress at the kind invitation of Professor Linghu Enqiang, President of CCDE, with an opening speech as well as a lecture on “How artificial intelligence is revolutionizing capsule endoscopy.” Former WEO Secretary General Dong Wan Seo also delivered a talk online regarding EUS-guided local ablation therapy of pancreatic tumor.
CCDE2024 attracted more than 5000 international endoscopists to register and participate, with an impressive congress venue, an international forum on superminimally invasive techniques, 30 breakout sessions on digestive endoscopy themes, as well as venues for streaming gastrointestinal, biliary, and pancreatic endoscopic surgeries. A total of 473 special topic lectures were held, covering cutting-edge progress, basic research, diagnosis and treatment norms, prevention and treatment strategies, endoscopic technology, new equipment, etc. A total of 90 endoscopic surgeries were streamed live, showcasing the superb skills of Chinese endoscopists. CCDE2024 has promoted the development of digestive endoscopy in China and enhanced exchanges among peers worldwide. WEO is very honored to be yet again part of CCDE2024 and looks forward to closer collaboration.
