WEO, in collaboration with the Thai Association for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (TAGE), has conducted and participated in numerous endoscopy workshops and scientific meetings. These initiatives aim to enhance delegates' endoscopic skills while introducing innovations such as AI-assisted endoscopy, novel EUS devices, and advanced therapeutic techniques.
In 2024, workshops covering basic endoscopy procedures, including esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, variceal band ligation, and cold-snare polypectomy, were successfully conducted in Vientiane, Laos, in January and August. Simultaneously, a workshop for endoscopy nurses was held to ensure optimal assistance techniques and the appropriate use of accessories and devices.
Hands-on workshops in advanced techniques, such as ERCP, EUS, ESD, and EMR, using training models, were held in Thailand, with participation from delegates across the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, advanced endoscopic training activities were organized in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia through collaboration with the Asian-Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (APSDE), an ally of both TAGE and WEO.
With strong collaboration among these international societies, a total of 10 endoscopy workshops were successfully conducted in 2024. These initiatives have played a vital role in advancing endoscopic education and fostering regional and international cooperation.
